I am a sole practitioner and I have practiced law in Miami-Dade County for 32 years. While I consider myself extremely proficient from the professional side of the practice, I realized that I had little understanding of the business side of my practice, other than the amount of money I had in the bank and the amount of money I needed to pay my bills each week. ActionCOACH has enabled me to develop an awareness and understanding of the business side of the practice of law, something I was neither trained for nor fully understood before their evaluation of my business. The thing I like about having a coach is that as CEO of my company there is no one that I answer to. One of the things they have me do is a weekly coaching focus sheet. This is a form that I am responsible to fill out with my various goals for the week as well as promises that I make and by when these assignments will be complete. For me, this actually works out well because now I have someone to hold me to account and follow-up on me to ensure I accomplish the tasks that I said that I would do.
