Plans are worthless, but planning is everything by Dwight D. Eisenhower. This is Jody Johnson with ActionCOACH Team Sage and the 51st edition of Coffee with Jody. This time last year, you were probably investing a good bit of time in your planning for your vision of 2020, whether things got off slowly or they got off with a big boom by mid-March, everything had descended into chaos and question. You may be among those who wonder, why bother? Why am I even?. You’ll be tempted to give up on planning. However, it may be the most important time ever for you to review, reflect, refine, and perhaps even revise your business plan altogether.

What I’m seeing today is a mixture of people who have a very clear vision and are going full on, head long deep into their vision to make that happen, and others who through this Pandemic have been reflecting on what matters to them most and are looking at actually aligning the business with their dreams and goals for their personal lives and making the changes by letting go of what’s no longer serving them. Thus the planning for this quarter 4 of 2020, and for 2021, it will be unique to each business owner. What is abundantly clear is survival is no longer an option.

I want to tell you about three different clients and what they’re doing in their businesses. One of them has had as clear vision of what it is that he’s building for 10 years, he’s going absolutely full throttle toward that vision. He has the resources to be able to do it and the team to be able to do it, and he’s going for it. Another client, it’s industry was absolutely decimated by this Pandemic. She’s leveraging her contacts, her relationships, and her knowledge to completely reinvent her business by pivoting to a different area, still within the same arena, then lastly, there’s a client that are like, you know what, no, we want to prepare for our business to be able to be sold. So they’re refining the business, putting in those processes, adding in those last fundamental pieces that will allow it to scale, so it’s ready to sell while they’re creating a business that they can do from anywhere in the world.

Each one of them is doing something a little bit different yet aligned with them personally. I think that’s probably the biggest theme that we’re seeing is alignment with what matters to you most. So whether it’s a deep dive, headlong into your vision or a complete re-visioning of your business and your business goals, so that they’re more fully aligned with what matters to you most now, investing your time and doing the critical thinking is the difference and the key to fulfillment in the future.

Dwight D. Eisenhower was a five star general, the Supreme commander of the allied forces in Europe during World War II and our 34th president, I think he knows a thing or two about plans and planning. So remember, plans are worthless but planning is everything.

I invite you to join me on October 15th at one o’clock Eastern time where we’ll be doing a webinar on planning and making sure that your dreams are aligned with your plan. Hope to see you there.

Bye for now.
