In this video, we’ll be discussing effective delegation tactics for small business owners.

By following these tips, you’ll be able to get more done without feeling overwhelmed. As a business coach, I often find that delegation is one of the biggest challenges small business owners face. They feel that they have to do everything themselves to maintain control of their business.

But what if I told you there were ways to lighten your load without giving up control?

Delegation is one of those ways. I learned seven effective delegation tactics from one of my mentors, Mr. Keith Cunningham, and I will paraphrase them here.

They will help you maintain control of your business while freeing up more time to focus on the things that matter most.

These are:

1. Define the outcome or task clearly and precisely. This means being clear about what needs to be done and the end goal. Without a clear understanding of what needs to be done, it will be difficult for someone to complete the task effectively.

2. Give the task to someone that has demonstrated they can do it. You wouldn’t want to delegate a task to someone who doesn’t have the skills or knowledge to do it properly. Make sure you delegate tasks to people who are qualified and capable of completing them successfully.

3. Ensure they have the resources needed and make them available to them, including money, time, and people. You must provide enough resources for the person you’re delegating to so that they can do their job effectively. This means the money, time and other people they may need to complete the task.

4. Always set a deadline and get their agreement to complete it by then. It’s vital that you set a deadline for the task to be completed and that you get agreement from the person you’re delegating to. This will ensure that the job gets done on time. Keep in mind that without a deadline, the work will inevitably extend forever.

5. Ensure they understand what is being requested of them. This is number five. A great way to check in with the person you’re delegating to make sure they understand what needs to be done, ask them to repeat back what you said. This way, you can be sure that they understand your instructions clearly.

6. Define how you will measure progress and how often. It’s crucial that you set up a system to track the progress of the task so that you can see how it’s going. This could be as simple as checking in with the person regularly or setting up a meeting to review the progress regularly. And finally,

7. Make sure everyone is clear on the consequences. You and the person you’re delegating to must be clear about what will happen if the task is not completed successfully, and you have to call that tight. This could include not being paid for their work or having to redo the job.

By following these seven delegation tactics, you’ll be able to get more done without feeling overwhelmed.

You’ll also be able to maintain control of your business while freeing up more time to focus on the things that matter most. Effective delegation doesn’t have to be complicated.

Just remember these seven rules, and you’ll be well on your way to delegating like a pro!
