This video will show you how to market your business online. It’s not as hard as it seems, and there are some straightforward things you can do to make a big impact.
Hi, my name is Doug Barra, and today I’m going to talk about marketing for small businesses online. We’re going to take a look at some effective ways that will help you grow your business from the ground up.
One of the first things that I must share with you here is that you have to have completed defining your target market and built your avatar before you start looking at how to market your business online. I’ve covered this pretty clearly in other videos, so I’m only going to give you a quick overview here.
You have to start by defining who you are marketing to. This needs to be as clear as possible and as narrow as possible. You can always have multiple markets, and the more narrow the market, the better the marketing.
Next, you need to determine where you will find them in the highest concentrations, then what they want to buy and why they want to buy it from you. From here, we can move into the how of marketing. Here are some of the ways that you can market your business online. Of course you need to have a webpage. Just remember that your webpage is normally not going to be your online salesperson. It’s more like your online business card and resume.
Your prospects want to be able to research your business. This is the purpose of your web page. Another place to market online is by creating a Facebook business page. This is a place to interact with your target market, by giving away information and being available. It requires that you post regularly and interact with the people who comment. Once a day is recommended.
The better your content, the better the interactions once you have built a following. There are many ways to work with a Facebook audience, and I’m not going to go into that here. Blogging is another way of creating content to build a following and interact with your prospects online. You can create a blog on your website, on WordPress, or medium, or any other platform like that. If you prefer to talk rather than write, you can do a podcast or a video blog.
Of course you could also do your blog as a video blog, extract the audio for a podcast and transcribe it for a written blog. Just saying… You might also want to use other social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, or any other that works for your business. To entice your online audience to become customers, we have to create offers that will have them stop just consuming your content and have them come to your business to buy.
This is often the piece that most people struggle with, but it doesn’t have to be hard. People are often enticed by something free or very low cost, just create enough value to have them want to give you their contact information in exchange for it. And then you can start conversations to sell what you’re offering. There is another piece to this puzzle. You have to make sure that your offering will be sustainable and profitable.
