What businesses are going to survive and thrive through this pandemic?. The answer may surprise you. The businesses that are going to thrive and survive this pandemic crisis are the businesses that have created the best plans for success. You need to be planning for your success. You can’t just expect that it’s going to happen. The government isn’t going to come in and save you. Other businesses are not going to come in and save you. It’s only you and your planning that’s going to make the biggest difference, make huge differences in your ability to survive this pandemic.
How do you make sure that you plan for the pandemic? Well, it’s not like you’re going to plan for everything that’s going to happen. That isn’t what’s possible here. We don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. Six months ago, we had no idea we would still be doing this now, we may have had an inkling, but we didn’t know. In the beginning it was all about just surviving and just trying to make it to the next day. At this point, we can’t be doing that anymore. You really have to be looking forward. You really have to understand where you want to go and you have to have given it some new thought. Don’t expect that the thoughts that you had a year ago about where you wanted to go, what you wanted to do are still going to be effective.
This is a new environment, there are whole new rules to what’s possible. What’s needed, how to make it happen. I hear that businesses that are going to survive are the businesses that are connected to the Pandemic or assisting in the Pandemic. No, it doesn’t matter what business you’re in. If you have the proper plan, you have the proper way of going about planning. Remember planning starts with the dream, where are you going? What do you want to create? and you have to think big. You have to be looking for how do I make this even better? How do I survive this in the best way that’s going to truly create what I’m looking for, for my life and for my business.
Then we need to pull that back a little bit. We have to look at if I want to get there, then what are my plans? What are my three to five year plans that I could create with that?. I know for many of you, you’re thinking Doug, I don’t know how I’m going to get through tomorrow. How the heck am I going to look for three to five years or even longer for my dreams?
Don’t give up on your dreams. Your dreams are absolutely critical, and your plan is also critical. Now the planning is the point. It’s not, are you going to make it? Because when you get on the court, when you get into the battle, the plan is useless, but the planning is critical because it gave you the idea of where you’re going. It gave you that critical thinking to be able to say, this is what I can do. This is what I can’t do. This is where I want to go. This is what I want to create, and you get to actually see ultimately what it is that you’re going to need to do.
Don’t think you’re going to create this plan and it’s fixed forever. No, you create this plan so that it then dictates what you need to do, and you’ll have to look at that and say, okay, in order to do that, what learning do I need to do? What don’t I already know how to accomplish, because especially now, especially through this pandemic, if you rely on what you already know, you’re already done, because nobody knows what’s coming. Nobody knows what’s going to work. So you have to be out there trying new things. You have to be out there looking for what are the new avenues and that’s gotta be part of your plan.
What do I need to learn? What do I need to invest in myself for so that I can create the future that I’m looking to create. Then you’re going to take that, and you’re going to create a plan for the next few days. You have your dreams, then you have your goals, goals are the three to five year. Then you have your plan, your plan is for the next foreseeable distance.
We like to use 90 days, a 90 day plan is a great way to focus on what you want to accomplish and make sure that you can accomplish it because 90 days is enough time to get things done, but not so much time that you’re going to lose focus. So 90 days, three months, basically right now, we’re in the last quarter. If you do a 90 day plan now, it’s to take you through to the end of the year and leave you in a place of being ready to soar next year in 2021.
These are critical things to understand. Then you want to go down and actually create the actions that you need to take in order to be able to accomplish this plan, and when we’re doing this plan, it’s super critical that you understand all of these pieces. Now I understand that in this short video, I’m not giving you necessarily enough information to be able to do that for yourself. This is why we’re hosting a webinar so that we can go in depth and really give you a lot more information about how to make that happen. Even in the webinar, we’re probably not going to have enough time to take you fully down.
When we do these plans with our clients, we spend an entire day working with them for the thinking, for the preparation, for the planning, for being able to come up with what are those milestones?
